Ultrasonic cell crusher is a multi-functional and multi-purpose instrument that uses ultrasonic waves to produce cavitation effect in liquids. It can be used to break a variety of animals, plants, viruses, cells, bacteria and tissues. It can also be used for emulsification, separation, homogenization, extraction, defoaming, clarification, preparation of nanomaterials, dispersion and acceleration of chemical reactions, etc. Instruments are widely used in biology, microbiology, physics, zoology, agronomy, pharmaceuticals, chemical industry, sewage treatment, nanomaterials and other fields.
- Ultrasonic generation: There is an ultrasonic generator inside the device, which generates high-frequency (usually above 20 kHz) ultrasonic vibrations.
- Ultrasonic wave transmission: Ultrasound waves are transmitted into the sample through an oscillator (also called a transducer or probe) in the device. An oscillator is usually a metal or ceramic probe placed in the sample that converts electrical energy into ultrasonic vibrations.
- Effect of ultrasonic waves: The propagation of ultrasonic waves will cause local high-pressure and low-pressure areas in the sample, causing compression and dilution of sound waves. This alternating high and low pressure causes bubbles in the liquid to form and collapse, creating a phenomenon called sonic cavitation. This cavitation creates regions of high temperature and pressure in the liquid, causing localized physical and chemical changes.
- Sample fragmentation: The effect of acoustic cavitation will form local high pressure and high temperature in the sample, causing the cell wall or cell membrane to rupture, allowing the internal structure and components of the cell to be released. In this way, cells or tissues are broken into smaller particles or fragments.
- Sample dispersion: The vibration of ultrasonic waves also causes particles or fragments in the sample to be effectively dispersed in the solution, preventing sample agglomeration or precipitation.
